The Audit Committee is an integral part of Seattle Credit Union's corporate governance structure. In this capacity, the Committee provides oversight to ensure the credit union's internal policies, procedures and practices reflect those of a sound, and continuously improving, internal control environment that safeguards members' assets and ensures adherence to applicable laws and regulations.

In order to achieve our objectives, the committee meets regularly (at least six times per year) and oversees various audits that includes internal audits and examinations performed by regulators. The committee reviews the results of all audits and examinations to ensure that management provided adequate and timely responses when requested.

While serving on our Audit Committee:

  • Laptop or tablet will be issued for audit committee activities
  • $7,500 annual audit committee-related training expense
  • $50 monthly internet expense


Some of the key Audit Committee duties:

  • Keep informed as to the financial condition of the credit union.
  • Identify new risks to the credit union due to changes in industry, economic, strategic and operational risk profile.
  • Perform or arrange for annual audit of the credit union, verification of its members' accounts and provide any related findings to the Board of Directors, as appropriate.
  • Provide an annual report to members at each annual membership meeting.
  • Perform or arrange for additional audits as requested by the board or management or as deemed necessary by the committee.
  • Monitor the implementation of management responses to material adverse findings in audits and regulatory examinations.
  • Perform any additional duties as specified by the board or in the credit union's bylaws.


To be considered for the position, the candidate must:

  • Live and/or work in Washington state.
  • Have management or oversight experience in audit or risk management.
  • Be a member of Seattle Credit Union.
  • Satisfy the bonding requirements of the credit union.
  • Pass a criminal background check.
  • Not be a credit union employee or employee's family member (over the previous three years).
  • Not be an employee or director of any other financial institution.
